Careers · Flight Instructors

Just
teach.

The instructor job other schools won't give you. You're responsible for three things: your student, yourself, and the aircraft. Nothing else.

No front desk shifts. No answering phones. No dispatch duty, no admin pile. A custom scheduling app lets you lay out a whole month of a student's lessons in about thirty seconds. You walk in, you instruct, you build hours toward the airlines. We handle the rest. That is the whole pitch, and we mean it.

Your Three Jobs

All of them

R · 01

Your student.

Show up prepared and teach well. Their progress is the work. Everything on this page exists so you can give them your full attention.

R · 02

Yourself.

Stay current, stay sharp, keep your certificates and logbook in order. Be the instructor you'd want to have learned from.

R · 03

The aircraft.

Treat the planes well, fly them safely, and squawk anything that needs attention. We keep a well-maintained fleet and an in-house mechanic so you can trust what you take up.

What You Don't Do

The difference
No Front DeskYou're not staff on a rota
Other schools make their instructors cover the desk, greet walk-ins, and babysit the lobby between lessons. Not here. The desk is not your job.
No Phone DutyNot your line to answer
You won't be pulled off teaching to field calls, take bookings, or chase paperwork. Your time with a student stays your time with a student.
No Dispatch GrindA month booked in 30 seconds
A custom scheduling app made just for our instructors sets up a whole month of a student's lessons in about thirty seconds, instead of the usual half-hour of calendar wrestling per student. More on that below.
No BusyworkTeach, that's it
No required side duties, no make-work. You are hired to instruct. We built the whole operation around protecting that.

The Scheduling App

Built just for us
01.
For you, the instructorA month set up in about 30 seconds
It won't do every last booking for you, but it gets you most of the way in a fraction of the time. Lay out a whole month of a student's recurring lessons in roughly thirty seconds, set the pattern once and it fills the month, instead of half an hour of calendar wrestling per student. That time goes straight back into teaching.
02.
For your studentThe Aces High App
Your students get the Aces High App too. They see every upcoming lesson at a glance and get reminders so they turn up on time and prepared, which means fewer no-shows and fewer "when's my next lesson?" texts landing on you. Organised, reliable students make your job easier and your teaching better.

Why Aces High

Four standing rules

W · 01

Built for instructors.

The whole operation, the scheduling app included, is designed so your day goes to teaching, not admin. The tooling works for you, not the other way round.

W · 02

Real flying.

A large, well-kept fleet at Long Beach Airport (KLGB), Cessna 152s and 172s with glass options, a Diamond DA-42 twin, and a Redbird simulator. Plenty to teach in.

W · 03

Hours that count.

We carry a big student waitlist, so you'll never be short of people to teach. Steady students mean steady hours, building toward your ATP minimums while you're paid to do the thing you trained for.

W · 04

Family-run since 2010.

A Part 61 school that's honest and transparent, and treats its instructors like the professionals they are. We promote from within, our own graduates get first look.

On Pay, Straight

The part schools bury
No minimum-wage gamesOur instructors actually want to be here
Here's the open secret of this industry: plenty of schools around here pay their instructors minimum wage, or near enough, quietly betting you're too eager to reach the airlines to push back. We don't. We pay properly, and it shows, our instructors are genuinely happy to come in and fly. We'll be straight with you about the number when we talk.
Paid to teach, not to waitSteady students, steady hours
A steady student load keeps your hours full, so your pay doesn't hinge on hustling for students between lessons. You're here to build time toward the airlines, and we make sure that time actually adds up.

These are the kinds of seats we hire for, not a list of what's open right now. Whatever's actually open today is up at the top of the page. If your fit is here, apply anyway and we'll match you the moment a seat opens.
