Huntington Beach
Flight School

15 miles up the coast. 20 minutes on the 405.
A proper towered field with a fleet to match.

Huntington Beach does not have a local airport, and the nearest Orange County options have limited fleets and higher overhead costs. Long Beach Airport is 20 minutes north on the 405, and it puts you at a towered Class D field with 13 aircraft, 15+ instructors, and 300+ VFR flying days per year. Our Huntington Beach students love that they can leave the house at 6:30 AM, be airborne by 7:00, and still make it to work by 9:00. The 405 north runs against the morning commute, so traffic is rarely an issue.

20 Minutes Against Traffic405 north to Lakewood Blvd exit
The 405 northbound from Huntington Beach runs opposite the morning commute flow. That means a clear, fast 20-minute drive to the airport most mornings. From the Bella Terra area, take the 405 north and exit at Lakewood Blvd. From downtown HB near Main Street, you can also take PCH north through Seal Beach to Lakewood Blvd for a scenic, freeway-free alternative.

On clear days, you will fly right over Huntington Beach, Bolsa Chica, and the wetlands on your way to the practice area near Catalina or Palos Verdes. It is one of the most scenic training environments in the country, and you get to see your hometown from 3,000 feet every lesson.

Bigger Operation, No SNA HassleAvoid John Wayne ramp fees
John Wayne Airport (SNA) charges steep ramp and facility fees that flight schools pass on to students. Schools at SNA also deal with noise ordinances that restrict training hours. At KLGB, there are no ramp surcharges, no curfews that affect training, and a 13-aircraft fleet that means you are rarely waitlisted for a plane. Huntington Beach students save real money training here.
